FIRST ANNUAL DAYTONA DREAM CRUISE OCT 24-26, 2008

Well the first 2 days went very well. As with almost all Prowler events, there was rain in the forecast and in the area. As luck would have it, we were rain  free for the dinner cruise and the after dinner cruise. The rain cam at night and early in the morning on Saturday. Enough to leave water on the road and make a clean Kat look a bit dirty.

Those that came early on Friday had dinner at Racing's North Turn. That is located at the north turn of the famous old beach race course in Ponce Inlet  (south of Daytona). After dinner we cruised around a while looking at all the myriad of vehicles that made it to Daytona for the Cruise. We were really  surprised by the amount of show cars for the very first Dream Cruise event in Daytona. Next year and subsequent years the Cruise will definitely become larger  and larger.

Saturday morning came with a heavy shower early in the AM. By time to leave  the Hotel, it had stopped and the sun started to come out. It stayed that way all day and into the early evening. The temps remained low and then turned a bit cool towards dusk.

We started out going over to the Mall to register the Kats, get a picture  taken and receive a plaque to mount the picture on. After the photo session, we  traveled over to Crane Cams for a tour of their plant. Some machinery they have!  After that, it was a trip over to Raabe Racing. They build race cars and do  engines, mostly for street racers and some racing enterprises. They built a LS7 engine that gets 38 mpg @ 74 mph, 34 @ 100 mph and 28 @ 150 mph. Now that's  economy.

From there we traveled over to the beach and did the dream cruise miles up and down. From there we trawled south to the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse. Great  photo-op from there.
After that we ran back to the Mall to catch up with  others that gathered there and then off to dinner in Flagler Beach @ Snack Jacks  right on the beach traveling through Tomoka State Park like we have done before on other occasions.

After dinner it was back to the dream cruise miles and then off to the Mall  for more conversation, checking out all the show cars and taking in an outdoor movie on the origins of beach racing, etc.

On Sunday we are off to breakfast, then to The Aquarium Restaurant for the send off. There is going to be drawings for many gifts, etc. and 5 lucky people  will walk away with $200 apiece. Now that's KEWL!

We Daytonans, want to thank all those that drove in for this inaugural event and hope your days/nights were filled with joy and hope to see you back again next year for the 2nd Annual Daytona Dream Cruise. I'm sure the event organizers will make next years event even more enjoyable after the response they received this year.
